I admit I am a sucker for old building.  When I stumbled on this colonial building in Seremban and better still the building was just given a new coat of paint I jumped at the opportunity to photograph it, thank God the weather and the lighting was very favourable.

This beautiful colonial all-white building once housed the Negeri Sembilan State Secretary Office before it was occupied by The State Public Library in 1984. And now it was vacated again as it was undergoing renovation.. This building was constructed in 1912 based on the design by B.P. Hubback. It is located just opposite the Seremban Lake Garden. I had great fun shooting this majestic building and I hope you enjoy the resultant pictures

Jeram Toi Waterfall

Jeram Toi is located between Seremban and Jelebu along the Seremban-Jelebu road. It is about 30km from Seremban and approximately 15km from Kuala Klawang, the Jelebu town.

Jeram Toi is a popular destination for family picnic, jungle trekking and recreation as well as for a cool, refreshing bath. It has 4 tiers of beautiful falls and you can climb up to the top fall since the concrete steps are provided.

Enjoy the pictures that I took recently when I took my family there for a picnic. It was a classic case of killing two birds with one stone

Fun with 50mm f/1.8 Lens

I believe any serious photographer – amateur or professional – has 50mm prime lens tucked away somewhere in his/her camera bag. It is because the lens is relatively cheap (especially its f/1.8 version) yet very fast considering its maximum aperture of f/1.8.

It’s also called the standard lens since its angle of view is said to have angle of view similar to our eyes although this is more applicable to 35mm film camera or full frame digital SLR. However some pro photographers further argue that the angle of view of human eyes is more similar to 40mm lens with full frame camera.

Let’s put aside the theory or the argument and just enjoy using this great lens especially at its maximum aperture either f/1.8 (the cheaper version) or at f/1.4 (the more pricey version).

At its maximum aperture it is capable of throwing everything out of focus except for a few milimeters focal plane and it’s fun experimenting with it.
