I did street shooting at Jalan Masjid India yesterday. As usual Jalan Masjid India is full of activities during Ramadhan as people are shopping for clothes, food and stuffs in prepraring for Eid Festival which will be celebrated in less than 2 weeks from now.
There are traders and vendors of varieties of stuffs that cater to many different types of customers. This is a very suitable place for street shooting training ground I suppose.
I did the shooting after office hour since my office is located in Jalan Raja Laut which is within a walking distance to Jalan Masjid India.
Hope you enjoy the photos. Please feel free to give your comments.

I am a sucker for bold colours and beautiful pattern. Colours and interesting pattern can be composed on its own even without the presence of a specific subject. And digital photography opens up a new spectrum of styles and methods in producing colour photographs without being bound to specific colour gamut of a specific film of yesteryears. However photography as usual is very much dependant on the person who captures the image no matter how sophisticated the camera is or rather how sophisticated the camera sensor is. When talking about colour photography, inevitably the photographer who always comes to mind is certainly Pete Turner who is considered the grand master in producing bold colour photography with abstract images. Eric Meola is also another sifu in producing vibrant abstract colour photographs. Unsurprisingly Eric Meola is a protege of Pete Turner. Ernst Haas is another master in colour photography. While at home we have Arthur Teng and Pang Piow Kan whose photos are very strong in graphics and colours just to name a few.
I was inspired by them in producing photographs with vibrant colours and interesting pattern. We just need to look closer and more often than not pictures can be produced out of very ordinary things around us. As they said practice makes perfect.
Allow me to share some of my favourite photos produced with bold colours and/or interesting pattern in mind. As I said colours and pattern can consitute interesting composition without involving any particular subject.

Recently I stumbled upon some lotuses in a quite sizeable pond. I stopped and took a couple of frames. I think lotus always becomes most of the photographers’ subject. It would appear majestic especially when backlit.

Lotus or it’s called teratai in Malay also quickly reminds me of Sweet Charity’s song “Teratai” sung by its singer, the local king of rock – Ramli Sarip. Ramli Sarip is one of my favourite local male singers besides M. Nasir. I grew up with their songs. At times they vividly evoke memory of my childhood
To brother Ramli Sarip, all the best to you! You rock, big time.
Below is the video of the song Teratai and Ramli Sarip and Sweet Charity in action.
Enjoy!
